Frisk Family Fundraiser, Takes a Village Foundation

Gary and Jenny Frisk met in 2003 and are both fighting serious health issues. Together, they had three courageous children who all suffer from a rare white blood cell disease called Eosiniphilic Esophagitis and Eosiniphilic Gastroenteritis. These conditions are also known as EGIDs. All three  children have asthma, eczema, and other aero digestive conditions they each deal with individually.

These children can eat hardly anything. The air they breathe makes them sick. Homes of friends and family's are not safe because of the severe reaction to pet dander they all three experience. Birthday parties, holidays, family parties, every event for school, etc. includes a lot of stress, worry and preparation because the smallest amount of food can either kill them or make them violently sick for weeks. Nothing ever feels normal.

What is an EGID?

Eosinophilic gastrointestinal disorders (EGID) occur when eosinophils (pronounced ee-oh-sin-oh-fills), a type of white blood cell, are found in above-normal amounts within the gastrointestinal tract.   Eosinophils are important in your body's defense against parasitic infections (e.g. worms). However, they are also involved in allergy. In some individuals, eosinophils accumulate in the gut in response to food and/or airborne allergens and can cause inflammation and tissue damage.

Aware of Angels is Non-Profit Organization Raising awareness of all children with genetic/chromosome disorders, raising funds for needed research, connecting families, and assisting those children who still need a diagnosis.  On September 19th & 20th there will be a special 2-day event to raise funds for the Frisk Family. The Frisk family needs genetic testing and all 3 children, Jaxen, Tieler and Boston, need to see specialists in Cincinnati to treat and research their rare condition. If you are a Utah local, you can attend these events which are fun for the entire family.
